91st Birthday Anniversary of a
Great Meditation Master of Recent Times
Satya Narayan Goenka was born on Januray 30, 1924 would have been 91 years of age had he not passed away on September 29, 2013. I thought of writing a few lines on him as a mark of great respect for his enormously powerful meditation techniques and highly organized network of meditation centers all around the globe with some staggering number of 1400 meditation trainers and 120,000 attendants for his unique non-sectarian Vipassana meditation programs. One of the most memorable programs would be his introduction to Vipassana meditation to the Indian prisoners with a tremendous support from Dr. Kiran Bedi, India's first ever woman to join the officer rank of the Indian Police Service. Ever since, the Vipassana meditation practice is given to all the Indian prisoners.
Let's salute Satya Narayan Goenka for his relentless effort to propagate the true message of the Buddha to numerous truth seeking hearts all around the world since 1975 until his passing away in 2013. May he be born again here to lead the great spiritual path to many millions! May he be well and happy where ever he is!
